Welcome to Funky Beach featuring the work of Brighton-based artist
Martyn Paul Whitehead.

Martyn was born in Canterbury, Kent, in 1966. He grew up in the "garden of England" and throughout his life gained inspiration and insight from the natural wonders around him.
Self-taught, he has always had a strong affinity for the sea, a draw which led him to relocate in Brighton and Hove City in the early 80s.
With an increase in both confidence and demand Martyn secured a Victorian seafront arch which became his studio and gallery.
Today Funky Beach enters its fifteenth year, attracting a huge number of passing public enjoying a leisurely stroll between the two piers.
2010 sees Martyn expand the availability of his originals through the use of established larger galleries throughout Sussex.
Technique & Style
Martyn uses mostly acrylics and metal leaf on canvas to create single, duo or triptics across a range of sizes.
His beautiful abstracts focus on colour and texture, gorgeous blues reminiscent of the sea sit alongside sunset reds and rich golds.
Mixed with light-catching tones of silver and copper these abstracts are truly special paintings.
Commissions: Martyn is happy to create a painting for you via commission, creating a unique and personal addition to your home. A three-step process, it is easy and accessible to all, an obvious solution should you not find your perfect piece from one of the many originals on display.
"Every person has a gift, a talent to share. I am lucky to be able to create art on a level to appeal to almost every person. It is an incredible feeling to see a person fall in love with one of my works and make that decision to walk away with it." MPW
